Katherine “Kath” Agnes Engelhardt
née McCue, fortified with the sacraments of the Holy Catholic Church, was called home by God on Monday, May 14, 2018. She was deeply loved by her husband of almost 58 years, Thomas A. Engelhardt, her children Marybeth (Mark) Lumetta, Carol (Tom) Herringer, Christine, Mark (Moira Konrad), and her eight grandchildren and three step-grandchildren: Michael, Katherine, Stephen, and Clare Lumetta; David, Cate, Jessica, Diana, and Mauricio Herringer; and Charlotte and Zaya Engelhardt. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Katherine (Carroll) McCue, and her sister Eileen Duffy. She is survived by her sisters Sheila Rider and Carroll Charette and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Born and reared in Gloucester, Mass., she had a rich life that included working in France, Boston, New York, and St. Louis. She devoted herself for many years to rearing her children and volunteering in the schools, church, and community before rejoining the workforce. She earned a Bachelor’s degree at Fontbonne University (1982) and an MBA at St. Louis University (1990). She had a wide circle of friends, and she loved volunteering, entertaining and traveling. Even after receiving a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in November 2017, she continued to bring joy to her family and friends, and she welcomed visitors until the end. Her final act of generosity was donating her body to St. Louis University Medical School, where she worked until her retirement as the Business Manager for the Department of Community and Family Medicine.
