Dear son of the late Hubert E. Sr. and the late Mildred Brown Creason; dear brother of the late Audrey C. Pheney, the late Hubert E. Creason Jr. and the late Kenneth L. Creason.

Dear uncle to Patricia A. Ryan (Pete), James K. Pheney (Connie), Cheryl A. Haller (Ted), William K. Creason (Jennifer), Terry M. Creason (Janet), Brian S. Pheney (Sandy), Robin M. Magana (Robert), the late Julie M. Pheney, great-uncle, cousin and friend.

Born and raised in St. Louis he attended St. Louis Preparatory Seminary High School, Cardinal Glennon College and Kenrick Seminary. He was ordained on March 11, 1967, at the St. Louis Cathedral.

Father Rich, was a loving and dedicated servant to all of his parishes, with a passion to connect with those battling challenges in their communities.

1967- 2016 Assignments:

Associate Pastor of St. Matthias in Lemay, Most Holy Rosary in St. Louis, Sts. John and James in Ferguson, and St. Mark in St. Louis.

Pastor of St. Barbara in St. Louis, St. Pius V in St. Louis, St. Paul the Apostle in Pine Lawn, and Most Holy Trinity Parish in St. Louis, where he served until his retirement in 2016.

Father Rich was appointed to serve the Archdiocesan Human Rights Office, working on numerous issues, including housing and labor. He became involved with the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. He earned a master’s degree in urban studies from Washington University in St. Louis. He became one of the founding fathers of what would become Metropolitan Congregations United, a local organization of faith-based communities working on issues in need of a transformative social justice response.

Father Rich was proud of his Irish heritage, an awesome homilist, writer, avid reader, world traveler and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved St. Louis City, it’s people and history. He especially loved sharing a meal around the table with family and friends. Our beloved uncle and friend will be greatly missed.

Services: A Celebration of Life will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3519 North 14th Street, St. Louis, MO 63107 at 6:00 p.m.  The livestream of the Mass may be viewed at www.mhtstl.org.
