Charles Baker December 13, 1927 - November 22, 2022

Charles Frederick Baker

Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, Charles passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on November 22, 2022.

Beloved husband of 67 years to Julie Carr Baker “Twink”.  Dear father of Julie B. Murphy (Christopher), Christopher C. Baker (Katharine), and Charles F. Baker, Jr. (Kim).  Loving grandfather to seven wonderful grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Charles was born on December 13, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri.  He graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, St. Louis University High School and from St. Louis University School of Finance.

Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  His life was centered on an intense Catholic faith and he was a daily communicant for most of his 94 years.  He was active with the American Cancer Society and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

Charlie loved spending summers at the family cottage in Douglas, Michigan.  He and his many friends attended the annual St. Louis at Douglas Golf Tournament which he organized and led for 10 years.  The golf tournament continues to this very day.

Charlie was an avid reader with an extensive knowledge of history.  He thrived on sharing his memories through colorful stories.  He loved telling them as much as everyone loved hearing them.

He will be remembered as a kind sweet man who was loved by many.  He was a true gentleman.

Charles was the last of my first cousins and he was my godfather. I am so glad that I got to visit him a few times in the last few months. I am also glad that I got to talk to him on the phone a few times in the last year. He was always very special to me and I was so proud that he was my godfather. Every time I saw him at a family gathering he would always ask me if I was still going to church. He took being my godfather seriously. My condolences to Twink and his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by many.
