Marie Minneman February 12, 1926 - October 27, 2023

Marie H. Minneman

Age 97, Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023. Born on February 12, 1926, to Joseph and Angela Boedges in South St. Louis. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald J. Minneman. Marie attended Our Lady of Sorrows grade school, Ursuline Academy high school, and graduated from Fontbonne College majoring in Dietetics. Following college, she interned at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago and was then employed as a dietitian at the VA Medical Center, Jefferson Barracks.

Don and Marie were married in 1953 and enjoyed 57 wonderful years together, raising their family in the Pebble Hill neighborhood of Affton. They were founding members of the St. Dominic Savio parish, and it was there that they made many lifelong friends, especially through Marie’s love of the game of bridge and the companionship of the informal “Pebble Hill” bridge club. Marie was a long-time election poll worker and also a volunteer at Incarnate Word Hospital. She and her husband Don enjoyed many international trips and were active in the cochlear implant community.

Marie was the loving mother to Tom Minneman (Debbie), Carol Kennedy (Bo), and Joan Cannon (Dave).  She was the adoring grandmother to Scott Kennedy (Lisa), Gregg Kennedy, Julie Glover (Xavier), David Kennedy, Jacqueline Schweiger (Raphael), Michael Minneman (Jane), Elizabeth Thomas (Alec), Kevin Cannon, Ellen Cannon, and Steven Cannon and great-grandmother of eight.

Marie spent her last four years at the Bethesda-Orchard Community in Webster Groves where she had many friends. She enjoyed a good conversation, reminiscing about life, places, schools, and experiences in St. Louis. She especially looked forward to the morning coffee group and their companionship. Many thanks to the staff of Bethesda and especially to the aids who were with her daily.

Marie will be remembered for her strong faith in God, love of her family, and the kindness and friendliness she extended to others. We love you so much and thank you for the love you shared with all of us.
