Duane Lee Huff
Duane was born on August 29, 1940 in Birch Tree, MO to Irene French. He departed this world suddenly at the age of 84 on April 9, 2025. He leaves behind his wife Judy, son Michael (Harmony), stepdaughters Kelly (Tania) and Laura (Dan), grandchildren Liam Freeman-Huff and Lane Shearer, and step-grandchildren Conner and Kadence Camren.
Duane graduated from Birch Tree High School in 1959 and joined the U.S. Navy. He married Jane Conelley in December 1961. Duane went to sea and served on three different aircraft carriers with attack squadron VA-56, which later joined the 7thFleet and went to Vietnam and other Asian countries. After the Navy, Duane attended the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK. He then worked for McDonnell Aircraft in flight test operations. Later Duane transferred to the Logistical Engineering Department where he worked from 1969-2002 as a Reliability Engineer. He traveled extensively for McDonnell Douglas and later Boeing. From 1968-1991 Duane worked part time as a charter pilot and flight instructor. Duane and Jane had son Michael in 1975. Jane passed away in 1991. Duane met and married Judy Smith McLane in 1992 and they combined three teenagers. After retiring, they enjoyed traveling especially the National Parks. The Huff’s also had a lake home at Table Rock Lake. Duane’s philosophy of happiness has been “marry left-handed school teachers. It worked for him!”
Services: The family will have a graveside service, at a later date, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Birch Tree, MO.
