Jeanne Ann Tracy
Age 89, of Chesterfield passed away on August 7, 2024. Beloved mother of Jennifer (Todd) Schultz, JoAnn (Tom) Sandifer and Tom (Roraima) Tracy, grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband William Tracy, and her brother Jerome Sweeney.
Jeanne grew up in Kirkwood, Missouri and attended Kirkwood High School. She went on to graduate from St. Louis University. She loved the time she spent at SLU; her college ring was one of her prized possessions. Jeanne’s first job was teaching first grade at St. Peter’s Catholic School in Kirkwood. She had sixty students in her class, many of whom attended her wedding.
Jeanne was a devoted mother and immersed herself in the lives of her three children. She enjoyed teaching “Great Books” during those years, and shared her love of literature with her children. Jeanne went back to school later in life and studied journalism. She freelanced for The Suburban Journal for several years, and then went to work at Mercy Hospital, where she was an administrative assistant and wrote the volunteer newsletter.
Both Jeanne and Bill were thrilled to have grandchildren and spent a great deal of time with them – taking the grand kids to various events and supporting all their interests. Jeanne often said this was one of the happiest periods of her life. Jeanne was an avid reader. She started every day with the Wall Street Journal and the Post-Dispatch. She loved her beauty and health magazines, and was a devotee of PBS television dramas, football (especially the Chiefs), and current events. She was engrossed in watching the Olympic games until the day she passed. Jeanne was surrounded by her children when she passed peacefully at Mercy Hospital, where she always felt at home.
Services: The funeral Mass and celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at St. Louis Abbey Catholic Church (St. Anselm Parish), 530 South Mason Rd, St. Louis, MO 63141 at 10:30 a.m. with visitation beginning at the church at 9:30 a.m.

August 16, 2024 at 3:23 pmI’m sad to hear of the death of my aunt Jeanne. While I knew Uncle Bill better from my youth at the Tracy house, I recently sat next to Jeanne at a Tracy lunch. She was so sharp, conversational, interesting and well read that I wished I had known her better. Love and best wishes to her children, my cousins, from the Robert and Margaret Tracy family.
