Joan Johnson February 14, 1943 - May 26, 2020

Roberta ‘Joan’ Johnson

(nee Hamilton), 77, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 from complications with Cancer. She was born February 14, 1943 to Mary and William James Hamilton in Detroit Michigan. Dearest mother of Debi (John) Postal and Jessica (John) Aalbers, adoring grandmother of JP, Carson and Riley Postal and Hannah and Emily Aalbers. She is survived by her dear sister Ruth (Hal) Blumenstein and sister-in-law Ruthie Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her brothers Robert (Barbara) Hamilton, James (Dorothy) Hamilton, Richard (Ruthie) Hamilton, and by her younger sister Mary Ellen Barnes. Loving aunt and friend to many.

Joan had a great fondness for animals and such deep love for her rescue dog Peaches and her two cats, Phoebe and Agnes. She and Peaches enjoyed frequent walks together at different parks, their favorite being Castlewood. Joan was also passionate for horses and owned several over the years. She loved playing board games and Gin Rummy, especially with her grandchildren and was known for making up her own rules. She enjoyed spending time with friends playing Bridge, meeting at Bible Study or exercise classes. Joan was fortunate to be able to travel to some amazing places during her lifetime. She cherished her visits to Michigan catching up with family. But nothing brought her more joy than being a mother and grandmother. She was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.

Joan was one of a kind. She brought joy and happiness to everyone she knew. I will always cherish her friendship. She taught me how much fun, gin rummy could be. I will miss her bright smile, great laugh and most of all her genuine concern for everyone.

She was one of the nicest people I ever met. Fun loving and kind. I have fond memories of eating ice cream with her and watching her teach my young kids to play gin rummy. She will be missed. (Rick Hamilton’s wife)
