John Woolbright May 14, 1938 - June 11, 2023

John Lee Woolbright

Baptized Into The Hope Christ’s Resurrection, suddenly departed this life Sunday, June 11, 2023 at St. Louis, Missouri.  Beloved husband of the late Iantha Mary Woolbright (nee Larigan) and dear father of Mary Iantha Woolbright.  Born in Irvington, Illinois to Otis Carl Woolbright and Leatha Hill Woolbright; brother of Jay Dee Woolbright and the late Otis Carl “Sonny” Woolbright, Jr.,  Jane Del Woolbright, and Toni Alaina Clark; dear son-in-law of the late Isabelle Julia Larigan and the late Harry Joseph Larigan; dear uncle, great-uncle, and friend.

John served his country for four years of active and honorable duty in the United States Air Force (1955-1959), and as a civilian for more than thirty years with the United States Postal Service.  From the age of twenty-five, he spent his life in loving devotion to his wife of forty years, the late Iantha Mary (deceased 2003) and their daughter Mary Iantha.  In all the trials of life, he found peace and solace in his relationship with the Lord and the consolations of his faith in the Roman Catholic Church.  More recently he enjoyed creating beauty, telling stories, and cultivating nature.  For the last six years, he has taken special delight in his tender bond and playful antics with his loyal and constant companion, Whitefoot.

A sensitive and loving soul, a gentle and compassionate spirit whose heart was as mighty as it was pure, he is and shall be sorely missed.
