Marcella Adelia Augusta Caldwell

(nee Pannier), Thursday, May 30, 2018. Beloved wife of Charles Caldwell, dear mother of Gayle (Rusty) Newman and Dennis Caldwell, dear grandmother of Bridget Allen, Jason Newman, Charles K. (Carol) Caldwell, Casie Caldwell, and Marcie (Alex) Casolari, dear great-grandmother of Madi, Taytum, and Teegan Allen; Macey, Autumn, Sierra, and Charlotte Caldwell; and Angelo Casolari.

Marcella was born March 17, 1928 in Lenzburg, Illinois, baptized April 8, 1928 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Darmstadt, Illinois by Rev. A. F. Imm, confirmed March 29, 1942 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Darmstadt, Illinois by Rev. Walter C. Lochmann.

Memory Verse:  Matt. 6, 33  Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

Married July 4, 1948 at Zion Lutheran Church Belleville, Illinois by Rev. C. Thomas Spitz.

Marcella attended Public Elementary Schools in Illinois.  Graduated from Belleville Township High School in Belleville, Illinois. She attended The University of Missouri in St. Louis.  Her special studies included a variety of adult education courses, seminars and special courses in management, office procedures etc.

Marcella’s employment began by doing all office operations for Bergjans Diary and Bergjans Sales Co.  Horack Dairy employed her after buying out the previous two companies.  Ozark Dairy Company hired Marcella to prepare federal reports, manage and schedule at least 50 delivery routes, bookkeeping duties, and operated the switchboard.  At Thomas J. Finan Co., Inc., she handled all the financial transactions, receipts, disbursements, profit-loss statements, and salesmen’s expense accounts.  The University of Missouri hired Marcella as the Office Manager of the University Bookstore financial office which included training and evaluation of bookstore employees, inventory, payroll, equipment purchases, creating and implementing new forms to improve bookstore operations and efficiency.  Her final position prior to retirement was at Wilco Die-Tool-Machine.  She was a one-woman office operation with accounting, financial records, bookkeeping, payroll, bank accounts, implement new forms and procedures for improved record keeping and maintain office stock and supplies for two new corporations formed after her arrival.

Marcella’s interests consisted of knitting, reading, square dancing, ballroom dancing, water skiing, snow skiing, swimming, King of Kings Lutheran Church Member, King of Kings Chancel Circle Secretary/ Treasurer, MOPS at King of Kings and King of Kings offering counter.

Services:  Visitation and funeral service will be held Saturday, June 2 at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 13765 Olive Blvd., Chesterfield, MO 63017.  Visitation at 10 a.m. with the service to follow at 11 a.m. Reception immediately following the service. Interment Valhalla Gardens.  Contributions to King of Kings Lutheran Church or the American Lung Assn. appreciated.
