Mary Teresa Heaney
On Tuesday, April 30, 2019, God, the Almighty Father called his daughter Mary Teresa (nee Finn) Heaney into eternal rest calling her home into His arms.
Beloved wife of 45 years of Robert Michael Heaney and loving mother to Shannon (Ben) Terrill and Kevin P. Heaney. Daughter of the late Lily McElroy Finn of Ireland and Leo Joseph Finn. Sister to John (JoAnn) Finn of Aberdeen, MS and Leo (Sandra) Finn of Cullman, AL. Daughter-in-law to Hugh Joseph Heaney and Alice Veronica Heaney. Dear Aunt, great-Aunt, Cousin, sister-in-law, friend to anyone who was shone upon by her smile.
Mary was born in Red Bank, NJ, but moved to Atlanta, GA in her youth. She never lost her Georgia Peach charm or her Southern manners and ways. She had a smile that could light up a room and a sense of humor that brought joy to anyone who was lucky enough to have met her. Her Irish roots were apparent in her “smilin’ Irish eyes” and face that would brighten anyone’s day she encountered. She always had a smile to share, a polite thing to say and would always remember your name.
After marrying Robert in Atlanta they moved to St Louis where they have resided ever since. Being new to the St. Louis, she made many friends along the way, many of whom were still close and called upon her and thought of her fondly up until her last breath. She was a selfless mother who always put her children first no matter how old they were. After raising her two children she dedicated her time to helping others by volunteering for over 25 years at Mercy Hospital Gift Shop and the David Pratt Cancer Center. The Pratt Cancer Center is very same place where she would end up on the receiving end of care as a patient. She will be remembered as a caring mother, loving wife and friend to all. She will be constantly thought of, forever loved and always in our hearts.

Services: A memorial Mass will be held for both Mary and Bob Heaney on Saturday, July 20 at 10:30 AM at St. Anselm Parish, 500 S. Mason Rd. 63141. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in Mary’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or St. Louis Ovarian Cancer Awareness (SLOCA).
