As a senior manager and program organizer at the Missouri Humanities Council, Barbara’s contribution to the vitality of cultural organizations throughout Missouri was immense and immeasurable. She was a true “people person” who connected with everyone she met, and her energy and productivity were beyond anyone else’s reach. She wanted to help people live fulfilling lives through their historical societies, museums, libraries, and families. She dedicated herself to every task she took on and still kept her family in the center of her life. I have never known anyone like her and don’t expect I ever will. We worked as a team at the Missouri Humanities Council for 15 years, give or take. They were the best 15 years of my career, due in large part to Barbara.
