Philipp A. Stoeberl

Departed this life at the age of 79, Saturday, December 12, 2020.

Beloved husband of 54 years of Susan M. Stoeberl (nee Brady), dear father of David (Angela) Stoeberl, dear grandfather of Emily and Audrey Stoeberl.

A Professor Emeritus, he joined the faculty of the John Cook School of Business Administration at Saint Louis University in 1967, taking Emeritus status in 2015.  He held a Ph.D. in Business administration from Saint Louis University and an MBA and BSBA in Economics and Management from Xavier University.  He was awarded the Mary Louise Murray Endowed Professorship in Management, Beta Gamma Sigma Outstanding Teacher Award, and Thomas M. Knapp, SJ, Faculty Member of the Year.  He was also an accomplished author and researcher on topics of strategy, management theory, and current issues in management.

He was also a patron of the arts, especially the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, the Union Avenue Opera, and an avid Billiken basketball fan.  But most of all, he loved spending time with his granddaughters.

Services:  Private funeral Mass to be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, the Union Avenue Opera, or Saint Louis University are appreciated.

    I appreciated being taught by Phil and enjoyed visiting with him and Susan at the Billiken basketball games. He was a great teacher and they were wonderful people to know. You have my condolences.
