Thomas Reilly November 6, 1937 - November 7, 2023

Thomas Kevin Reilly

Tom is survived by his wife Joyce, daughter Peggy Reilly Tharp and son-in-law Matt Tharp.  He is also survived by his daughter Maureen and her children – Nora, Thomas and Mary Kate Barnes.  He was pre-deceased by his parents, Tom and Sally Reilly, and his brothers, Patrick and Robert Reilly.

Tom served as a Chicago Police officer for 38 years and retired as a sergeant.  Early in his career he was promoted to detective, becoming the youngest detective on the force.  He was awarded multiple citations for bravery, including the Superintendent’s Award of Valor, which was granted for an act of outstanding bravery or heroism and the demonstration – in great degree – of the characteristics of selflessness, personal courage and devotion to duty.

Along with Joyce, Tom travelled the world and visited dozens of countries, including China, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and, of course, Ireland.  While he was a White Sox fan, he loved watching any team win a ballgame – except the Cubs.

A native of Chicago, Tom was the son of Irish immigrants and, as true Irishman, he frequently found time to enjoy a cold beer. After moving to St. Louis in 2021, he adopted the hometown brew as his own.  So, the next time you find yourself with a cold one in your hand, please offer up a toast to Tom.

Services:  Visitation and funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 11, at Little Flower Catholic Church, 1264 Arch Terrace, St. Louis, MO 63117. Visitation at 9 a.m. with the Mass to follow at 10 a.m.  A private interment will be held at a later date.
