Anne Weber Carleton

Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church and resting in the arms of the Holy Family, Anne Weber Carleton, aged 90, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.  Born on August 5, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri, Anne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend to all.

Anne’s life was beautifully rooted in faith, family, and service.  She attended Our Lady of Lourdes and graduated from Villa Duchesne in the Class of 1954 before continuing her education for two years at Maryville University.  Her Catholic faith remained an important part of her life, and throughout the years she attended daily Mass at St. Mary Magdalen, Our Lady of Lourdes, and the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis.

Anne shared 68 wonderful years of marriage with her late husband, William P. Carleton, Jr.  Together, they were blessed with five children, Virginia (Mike) Wefelmeyer, William P. (Debi) Carleton, III, Paul A. (Georgeanne) Carleton, Stephen W. (Barb) Carleton, and Mary Elizabeth (Ron) Fox; 22 grandchildren E. Michael (Sloane) Wefelmeyer, Charles Wefelmeyer, Peter T. (Moriah) Carleton, William P. (Jess) Carleton, IV,  Nicole (Moses) Stevens, Andrew (Kyra) Carleton, Rachel Carleton, David Carleton, Jonathan Carleton, Ali Carleton, Luke Carleton, Gabriel (Elise) Carleton, Peter M. (Gretchen) Carleton, Timothy (Christy) Carleton, Gerard Carleton, Paul Carleton, Jr., Daniel Carleton, Elizabeth Carleton, Benjamin Carleton, Samuel Carleton, Jacqueline Fox and Lauren Fox and 13 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister, Carol (Ron) Szweda, brother Don (Marianne) Weber and sister-in-law Eileen (Rick) Weber.  In addition to her husband Bill, she was predeceased by her parents Frederick J.  and Virginia Hennessy Weber, her brother Frederick (Eileen) Weber and her sisters Barbara (Bill) Budde and Gail (Joe) Olson.

Anne’s family was truly one of the greatest joys of her life.  She had a special talent for needlepoint, lovingly creating handmade pieces for each of her 22 grandchildren.  Each piece was a reflection of the time, care, and love she poured into her family-treasured keepsakes that will continue to carry a little piece of Anne with them for years to come.

Anne had a widely varied professional career.  Early in her career she worked at Judevine Centers.  Later she partnered with her husband Bill and sister Barbara to develop and sell microcomputer-based insurance rating software.  This led to other roles traveling around the Midwest doing software installation and training.  Her last and possibly most rewarding role was as Business Manager at the New Cathedral.

Anne also lived a life of dedicated service. She and Bill were members of the Cathedral parish for over 30 years.  Anne was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of the many years of service.  She was also involved with the Gardening Angels, fitting for someone who found such happiness in flowers, gardening, and simply being outdoors.  Anne was a lifelong member of the Child of Mary Sodality, serving as president at one time.  She was a proud alumnus supporter of both Villa Duchesne and Maryville University.

Peaceful in nature with a happy spirit, Anne enjoyed the simple pleasures of life-listening to music and singing along, playing tennis, gardening, playing bridge and most of all, being surrounded by those she loved.  She also had an adventurous side and enjoyed traveling throughout her life, including many cruises and memorable journeys throughout Europe and even China.

Services:  Services honoring Anne will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, beginning at Our Lady of Lourdes, 7148 Forsyth Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63105 with visitation at 9:00 a.m. followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m.  Burial after Mass at Calvary Cemetery, 5239 West Florissant, St. Louis, MO 63115.  Luncheon following (approx. noon) at Lombardo’s, 10488 Natural Bridge Rd., St. Louis, MO  63134.  All are welcome to celebrate Anne’s life with us.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Gail Weber Olson Memorial Scholarship Fund at Villa Duchesne, 10801 Conway Rd., St. Louis, MO  63131.

Anne will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who knew and loved her.  May she now rest peacefully in the presence of the God she faithfully loved and served.
