Katherine Reese ‘Kathy’ Bommarito
Kathy Bommarito, age 77, of Fenton, MO, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
Kathy was born on November 12, 1948, to Fred and Estelle Reese. She grew up in Kirkwood, Missouri, and graduated from Ursuline Academy. Deeply committed to learning, Kathy attended Southeast Missouri State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a major in Social Studies, a Bachelor of Arts in History, and a Master of Arts in History. She shared her love for knowledge as a middle school teacher, teaching history and reading in the Hazelwood School District for 25 years.
Kathy continued her lifelong passion for history through her work at the Daniel Boone Home and with St. Louis County Parks Department at Jefferson Barracks, the Bissell House, and Faust Park. She conducted numerous school programs to show elementary-aged students what life was like on the frontier. She spent the later part of her career working at the Gateway Arch and the Old Courthouse, where she brought history to life by re-enacting key historical women.
A lifelong dog lover, she owned and cared for more than a dozen dogs throughout her life.
Kathy is survived by her son, David Bommarito (Lauren), and her grandchildren, Rosalind Bommarito and Lillian Bommarito. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Reese; her mother, Estelle Reese; and her sister, Dolores Heytman.
