Allan Westerbeck October 24, 1928 - February 5, 2022

Allan Richard Westerbeck

Allan was born October 24, 1928, to Andrew David Westerbeck and Ida Mae (nee Wier). He had one older brother, Warren Westerbeck, born May 23, 1927. Allan attended public school in Burlington, IA, where he participated in track and field, baseball and played ping pong (no one could beat him at ping pong).

After graduation he enlisted as a Private in the Army. He was honorably discharged on February 24, 1948. He received the WWII Victory Medal.

Allan met his wife Laura through a friend. They fell in love and married June 24, 1951. He attended Denver University where he studied business. He was blessed with a son, Mark Allan Westerbeck, born on August 29, 1953. He was blessed with a daughter, Nancy Diane Westerbeck, on February 28, 1959.

He went to work for Washington National Insurance and traveled all over the globe for his work. He was transferred to St. Louis, MO in the fall of 1977 and they bought a home in Dougherty Lake Subdivision where he and his wife lived until their passing.

Their son, Mark, married Debbie Martin on November 20, 1987. They had no children prior to Mark’s passing on December 11, 1988.

Allan retired from Washington Nation on February 15, 1990. After retirement he and Laura had a lot of fun with friends from Dougherty Lake, including Dinner Club, and a regular golf league. He also had friends that he loved to fish with.

Allan passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022, at home with his beloved daughter, Nancy. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Westerbeck; nephew, Tim Westerbeck; niece, Anita Burse; and cousins and loving friends. Allan was preceded in death by his loving wife Laura Westerbeck; his son, Mark Westerbeck; his brother, Warren Westerbeck and his parents.

Services:  Visitation and funeral service will be held Saturday, February 19 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 12345 Manchester Road.  Visitation at 10 a.m. with the service to follow at 11 a.m.  Interment St. Paul’s Cemetery.
