Violet Genevieve Scherbel
passed away the morning of Sunday, December 12, 2021. Earlier this year she celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends in St Louis. She is preceded in death by her husband and WWII veteran, Anthony Scherbel, her two sisters, Thelma and Venita, and her daughter, Donna. Longtime resident of University City, Missouri, “Gene” loved square dancing and playing the piano. Learning to play the piano “by ear” from one of her sisters, she could play any song if she could hear it a few times.
She is survived by her son, David Scherbel of Maryland, grandsons Matthew and Christopher, of Virginia and Massachusetts, respectively, and many grandchildren.
Services: She is to be buried with her husband Anthony in a quiet service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
