George F. Knollmeyer – February 5, 1929-November 17, 2018
Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, George died peacefully on November 17th, 2018, beloved husband of Mary Knollmeyer, beloved father of Mary, George (Kim), Michael, Edward (Andrea), Catherine, who preceded him in death, and Gregory (Diane), beloved grandfather and great-grandfather.
George served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Following his military service, he managed Monsanto chemical plants in Seattle, New Jersey, and St. Louis. Upon retirement, he devoted himself to apostolic work in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, serving on the board of Cardinal Ritter Institute and was a founding member of the Archbishop’s Committee for Eucharistic Adoration. He was a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. He was an avid tennis player and sports fan.
God was always first in his life and he had a deep devotion to Our Blessed Mother and to the holy rosary and to the brown scapular. We wish to express great gratitude to Luka Ijei for his loving care of George during the last seven years of his life and also to Francis Muffa, who also earnestly cared for George.
For those who wish, Holy Masses or donations to the Oratory of Saints Gregory and Augustine (stlouislatinmass.com).
Services: Wednesday, November 21st at the Oratory of Ss. Gregory and Augustine located at St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 7230 Dale Avenue, Richmond Heights, MO 63117. Visitation from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. followed by the Holy Rosary. Holy Mass at 10:30 a.m.
