Joyce Cullen November 9, 1927 - January 12, 2024

Joyce Marie Cullen

(nee Jackson) Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2024 at the age of 96.  She was born to the late Marie and Arthur Jackson in St. Louis, MO. on November 9, 1927.  Beloved wife of the late James Cullen, adoring mother of Lynn (Mark) Walsh, James (Lisa) Cullen, Michael Cullen and Carol Cullen, cherished grandmother of thirteen and great-grandmother of seven, dear sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Joyce was a loving and deeply devoted mother and grandmother and would do anything for her family.  She was always there with a hug, word of encouragement and guiding strength.  Joyce’s smile and zest for life lit any room she entered.  With her gregarious personality and easy laugh, she always brought cheerfulness and kindness wherever she went. Her grace and timeless beauty will not be forgotten.

For many years, Joyce enjoyed bridge with her friends and actively played golf and tennis.  She frequently cheered on the Cardinals and Blues as well as enjoying summer evenings at the Muny Opera.  As a devoted Catholic, she was a daily communicant and remained close to her faith throughout her life.  In the last years, Joyce was always grateful and quick to say “thank you” to her caregivers or to anyone who assisted her in anyway.

Joyce’s legacy is her family. Of all the gifts life has to offer a loving mother is the greatest gift of all.
