Mary Kay Brubaker April 22, 1928 - May 7, 2025

Mary Kay Brubaker

Has passed on May 7, 2025, age 97.
She had become Mary Kay, legally, but was known as “Katy” to some of her 12 siblings
and her husband of 70 years, Alvin G. Brubaker who passed at 91 years in 2017.

Mary Kay was the youngest of the 12 surviving children born to William Phillip Moorman
of Beardstown, IL and Mary Marie Burghart of Assarie, KS.
She grew up in Lawrence, KS next door to her future husband as a friend of his siblings and he as friend to one of her brothers. They married on June 22, 1947.
After their first daughter was born in Lawrence, KS, they moved to St. Louis County.
Her daughters are:
Linda J. Brubaker Wiley (Reece) of Lawrence, KS, Nancy E. Brubaker Brueggeman (Rick Johnson) of Centralia, WA, and Kathryn A. Atnip (Matthew) of Valles Mines, MO

Mary Kay was a homemaker for several years in the first home in St. Louis County, MO and later in the second home in Florissant, MO. She loved being in the sunshine and hobbies included several collections. She re-purposed clothing fabric and was known for using high contrast colors to line and cover boxes which were used as gifts, storage and donations to charity stores. Childcare for local grandchildren was a priority and her visiting grandchildren loved counting any new items added to the collections.
Any travel was to seek out collectibles or visit family. As her sight deteriorated in the last years while in memory care, music became her strongest enjoyment.

Her grandchildren include:
Seth R.S. Wiley (Jen Murphy) currently of St. Louis, MO
Isaac V.R. Wiley of Lawrence, KS
Donika B. Wiley (Michael Krueger) of Lawrence, KS
Elliott D. Brueggeman (Amanda Billings) of Seattle, WA
Emily K.  Majors (Ryn) of Florissant, MO
Brian D. Atnip of Creve Coeur, MO
Erica J. Wentworth (Tristan) of Mary Esther, FL

Great grandchildren of Mary Kay include:
Emma M. Wiley and Aubrey J. Wiley of Lecompton, KS
