Maureen Ward

Age 89, of St. Louis, MO, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at her home in St. Louis surrounded by her family.

Maureen was born on July 4, 1937 to Harold and Regina Riechers.  She grew up in New Haven, Missouri and attended New Haven High School.

After graduating from Airline School, she began a career with American Airlines, a position she was deeply proud of.  Her work there helped support her husband while he completed his graduate studies at Harvard University, something she remained proud of throughout her life.

Reni was known for her generosity, her caring nature toward friends, and her deep love for her family.  Her life was marked by remarkable resilience and she carried a quiet strength.  Her Catholic faith was an important part of who she was and remained a source of strength and comfort throughout her life.  She had a passion for classical music, long fitness walks, traveling the world, boating at the Lake of the Ozarks, where she owned a home for many years and her volunteer work.  She was especially devoted to raising her children and embraced her roles as a wife and mother with great dedication.

Maureen Ward, is survived by her children Joseph Ward (Anne), Andrea Hong (Roy), Jennifer Ward (Jason Hackler), grandchildren Lauren Ward, Joseph Ward (Marissa), Grace Ward, Benjamin Ward, Jonathan Hong (Cydney), Elizabeth Hong and Isaiah Hackler, her sister Jean Szoko (Edward) and companion Robert Klostermeyer.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph A. Ward, her grandmother Caroline Riechers, her parents Regina and Harold Riechers, and her brothers Harold A. Riechers, Randall P. Riechers and Roger B. Edgar.

Those who knew Reni will remember her kindness, resilience and generosity.

Services:  A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 567 St. Joseph Ln., Manchester, MO 63021 at 1 p.m.
