I worked closely with Mazi at Deaconess Hospital for many years until I moved to another hospital. I oversaw the Utilization Review Dept. however, Mazi and I were more friends and colleagues than any other relationship. I respected her immensely as a dedicated and ethical professional in every respect. After she retired from the hospital and I had moved on, we would occasionally meet for lunch w a mutual friend. I am so sorry to learn she has passed but she obviously lived a long and honorable life. I know she was devoted to her husband and family. She supported the Deaconess Sisters in so many ways and was a fierce advocate for their welfare, especially after their administrative influence at the hospital waned. She would tolerate no diminishing of their care and respect. I am sorry I could not attend a personal paying of my respects but if any family member would like to hear stories of hers and my experiences, I could be reached at stcuneo@swbell.net. I do hope her last years were not difficult.
