NancyAnn Hemingway
(nee Miller) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, after a long struggle with lung cancer. Nancy, who was 73 years old, was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Carl F. Miller and Celesia F. Miller. Nancy loved her parents deeply. She often talked about her happy childhood and her experiences growing up in Little Rock with her parents, her brother, Felix, and her many cousins and friends living in Arkansas, Nebraska, and Minnesota.
Throughout her life, Nancy lived in Little Rock; Shreveport, Louisiana, Lincoln, Nebraska; Charlottesville, Virginia; and Kirkwood, Missouri. She graduated from Centenary College in Shreveport with a degree in foreign languages. Nancy was an avid gardener, talented artist, a superb cook, and devoted mother to her cats. She loved murder mysteries, snow, ice skating, France, and Christmas. Nancy never met a stranger and worked hard to create a sense of magic and wonder for everyone in her life. She took pride in being the Fairy Godmother to her nephew and niece.
She was the beloved sister and sister-in-law of Felix and Marti Miller of Clayton; and the aunt of Zachary C. Miller (Natasha Wilson) and Claire (nee Miller) Schindler (Russell), her grand-niece and grand-nephew. She was a dear friend of many. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Pavilion No. 7 in the southwest corner of Forest Park. Turn east on Wells Drive from Skinker Blvd. Wells Drive is just north of Clayton Road. Go about 250 yards to the pavilion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.

October 14, 2023 at 12:37 pmI have known Nancy for many years as sister of my life long close friend, Felix Miller. Because of the onset of the lung cancer, I got to know her much better during more recent visitations. She had an indomitable spirit. The prognostications of the Doctors mattered little. She took full advantage of every opportunity she was given to meet people and share life experience in a meaningful way. Her razor sharp memory and demonstration of faith was powerful to see and feel and will not be forgotten. I am thinking loving and happy thoughts for her family and friends who are meeting to share memories and celebrate her life today. Blessings to all…..and to Nancy.

October 9, 2023 at 12:47 amNancy was a dear friend from the first day we met in college and over the last 50+ years. No matter where she lived, she always had a beautiful garden that she joyfully shared with anyone who admired it. She loved to make up and tell clever little jokes…loved to make people laugh. She was a loving and loyal friend. I will miss her.
