Paul Stock November 16, 1951 - February 17, 2025

Paul Michael Stock

Passed away Monday, February 17, 2025, at the age of 73.  Paul was the loving husband of Sheila (nee Flanagan) Stock; dear father of Phillip Stock, Teresa (Andy) Steinkamp, Christopher (Jessica) Stock, and Maria (Brian) Holmes; delighted and fun-loving grandfather of Emmaly and Nicholas Stock; Madeline and Keller Steinkamp, Christopher Jr. and Cameran Stock; Evan and Charlotte Holmes; and Kali and Stephanie Thornborough.  Eloise Flanagan, a grand-niece who was considered a “bonus grand,” and her parents, Dan Flanagan and Eliza Prager, were frequent special additions when the family gathered. He shared a special, quirky sense of humor with nephew by marriage, Jeff Flanagan.

Paul is survived by three siblings:  Libby (Rocky) Oglesbee, Roger (June) Stock, and Jennifer (John) Barrios, along with two nieces and four nephews and their children. Marriage gave him three brothers-in-law: Kevin (Steve Metz) Flanagan, Tom (Ruth) Flanagan and Patrick Flanagan, along with five nephews and their families.  He will be missed by many relatives, friends and associates.

Paul was born in Belleville, Illinois, and owned and operated Stock’s Underhood Specialists there for nearly 41 years.  He was dedicated to learning the latest automotive technology to provide the best and most current service details.  He enjoyed mentoring young auto technicians and had the opportunity to teach a variety of automotive classes over the years.  He was an ASE Master Technician for most of his career.  For the last 16 years, he enjoyed learning aikido as a member of the St. Louis Ki Aikido organization, earning his third-degree black belt in February 2023.
