Thomas W. Heubel July 11, 1929 - February 23, 2025

Thomas W. Heubel 1929 – 2025

Tom passed away on February 23, 2025, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family. As a former ship navigator in the Navy, who once charted his course by the stars and planets, this is a fitting date when seven planets are aligned and visible from Earth. It is his way of saying farewell.

Tom was a witty, fun-loving, and devoted husband and father whose presence brought joy to all who knew him up until his final days. He loved spending time with his family and entertaining them with his well told stories. His greatest joy was spending time with his beloved wife of 70 years, Marie (1932-2024), doing anything, anywhere, at any time. Their bond was a testament of their enduring love and inspiring devotion to one another.

Tom’s culinary feats were legendary, with his savory breakfasts of corned beef hash, fried braunschweiger, hash browns, and eggs were beloved traditions. And who could forget his signature cocktails, fondly remembered as ‘Tom drinks’. These moments of shared meals and laughter will forever be etched in the hearts of his family and friends.

Tom found immense happiness in entertaining his grandchildren and hosting festive Christmas gatherings when he played poker into the late evening. Their home was always filled with laughter, love, and the joyful chaos of a large family life. Though dementia gradually stole him away, it could never dim the playful wit and sparkling eyes that defined him. His spirit remained vibrant, a reflection of his enduring love and joy for life.

Tom leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth survived by his children: Tommy (Jan), David (Laurie), Melinda (Steve), Kenny (Monique), and Maria (Doug). Tom’s spirit lives on through his seven grandchildren Katy, Kevin, Joshua (Annie), Alyssa, Max, Andrew, and Steven, as well as his great-grandchildren Ryan, Maddie, and Nora who is on the way. Sisters Mary Rita (John deceased), Mitzi (George deceased) and Joanne (Robert deceased)

Tom is preceded in death by his son Dennis, brothers Edward (Helen deceased), James (Pat deceased) and David (Joni deceased), and his parents Thomas and Mildred Heubel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Siteman Cancer Center, a cause dear to Tom’s heart.

Rest gently, dear Daddy. Your spirit lives on in the hearts of those who hold you dear, a guiding star that will forever light our way.
