Richard Schreiber February 26, 1936 - May 19, 2025

Richard D. Schreiber

Passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025 at the age of 89 with his children at his side.  His wife, Jo Ann, predeceased him in 2021.

Richard lived his entire life in St. Louis and availed himself fully of all the town and its people could offer.  He had a close relationship with his parents Dalton and Elizabeth Schreiber of Clayton, MO.  He met Jo Ann in college, and the two of them raised three children then savored world travel and entertaining friends and family.  Richard was able to maintain an active social life and connections with his entire family right up until the end.

Richard attended St. Louis University High School and St. Louis University where he received his JD degree.  When he was admitted to the Missouri Bar at age 23, he was one of the youngest people to have achieved that milestone.  He enjoyed a successful legal career in private practice and had a particular passion for maritime law as applied to the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers.  He also served as the Municipal Judge in Clayton and Warson Woods.  In his later career, he discovered a love for teaching, and he taught many business law classes throughout the Midwest.

Richard is survived by his three children, Dalton Schreiber (Deb Dawson) of Madison, WI, Tracy Schreiber (David Patterson) of Raleigh, NC, and Ellen Lynch (Chris) of Ann Arbor, MI; six grandchildren, Laura Schreiber (Oliver Matuskey), Emily Mohr (Matt), Jackson Freeman (Jackie), Natalie Freeman, Madeleine Lynch, and Carolyn Lynch; one great-grandchild, Penelope Mohr; his brother, Michael Schreiber (Shelley), of Pacifica, CA; his sister-in-law, Eleanor Jennings (Thomas); his Godchild, Mary Kathleen Kearns and sister-in-law Kathleen Kearns; his daughter-in-law Mary Schreiber, son-in-law Bradley Freeman, and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his brother, John Tracy Schreiber, his sister-in-law, Sally Schreiber, and his brother-in-law, B. Thomas Kearns.
