Robert Brangle November 2, 1932 - November 23, 2024

Robert “Bob” William Brangle, M.D.

of St. Louis, Missouri, died on Saturday, November 23, 2024 peacefully at home.
Born on November 2, 1932 and the son of Edward J. Brangle and Ruth Cassidy Brangle, Bob grew up in Christ the King parish in University City. He graduated from Saint Louis University High School, Saint Louis University, and Saint Louis University Medical School. Bob specialized in Pathology for over 45 years and was a Director of Deaconess Hospital Laboratories, partner of Allen Medical Laboratories, and one of the founding partners of West Central Pathology. In addition to his medical practice, Bob served as an assistant professor at St. Louis University Medical School and throughout his career dedicated himself to practicing, learning and teaching medicine.
Bob is survived by the “love of his life”, Marilyn (Wood) his wife of 63 years, his children Robert (Tina) Brangle Jr., Molly (James) Bunta, John Brangle, Patrick (Tracy) Brangle, Timothy (Marijane) Brangle, and Michael Brangle, and his eleven grandchildren.
Among his many virtues, Bob was a devout Catholic, deeply reverent of God’s omnipotence. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a distinguished athlete.
Whether through hand or ear, he was a true artisan, displaying remarkable self-taught skill in woodworking, piano, and painting.
Most of all, Bob was a proud Irishman with a quick wit, a penchant for storytelling, and a repertoire of jokes that often began with, “Did you hear the one about…?”
To know him was to love him. He was a man full of life, laughter, and love. Present in every moment and with everyone, he cherished bringing joy to those around him. Although he is no longer with us, he is present in the joy of our laughter, the dimples in our smiles, and at the end of every perfect punchline.
