Shirley Rheinberger

Shirley was born April 18, 1931 in St. Louis, MO   She was preceded by her parents Red and Marge Kinsella and her only sibling, ‘Woody’. Woody had two children, Cathy and Michael Kinsella who survive. Shirley graduated from Nerinx Hall in 1949. After two years at Webster College, she joined the Maryknoll Sisters. Shirley completed her undergraduate degree in New York. After Panama, she continued to do missionary work in South America for some 14 or more years before leaving Maryknoll. Returning to St. Louis, Shirley worked at Washington U. School of Graduate Studies in Education. She also obtained a Masters in Counseling from UMSL.

In 1972 Tom and Shirley were married at St. Joseph’s Church in Clayton. Both were active in St. Patrick’s Parish until it closed. Tom and Shirley continued to be active after retiring. The Rheinbergers made Incarnate Word their parish.

Shirley died March 28, 2020.  She had donated her body to St. Louis University School of Medicine, but because of the COVID pandemic, this was no longer possible.  However, St. Louis University School of Medicine decided that her remains could be buried at the monument to those who willed to donate their bodies at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.

Services: Memorial Mass will be held Monday, December 6 at Incarnate Word Catholic Church, 13416 Olive Blvd., Chesterfield MO  63017 at 11 a.m.
