Stephen William Unland
Insurance Broker, Classic Car Owner, Music Box Collector, Friend of Felines and cherished human, Stephen “Steve” W. Unland passed from this life after a brief illness, April 3, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital.
Steve grew up in a close-knit family in the old Baden neighborhood of North St. Louis. He attended Holy Name Grade School and graduated from De Andreis High School, Class of 1974. He began his 47-year insurance career immediately upon graduation.
Steve was sought by many insurance companies for his expertise, knowledge of the industry and noted customer care. He began his long and successful career at the former Cervantes Insurance Company, then recruited by Bowersox Insurance Agency, Mid – America General Insurance Agency, Graham and Peate Insurance, Daniel and Henry Company and retired from Assured Partners of Missouri in January of 2022. In 2023 he was recruited to work part time at the Crane Insurance Agency.
Steve was an active member of the Cadillac LaSalle Club, St. Louis Region, Show Me Chapter, Lambda Car Club International, Missouri Botanical Garden, Presidents Contributor, St. Louis Theater Organ Society, International Music Box Society, Life Member of the Friends of Arrow Rock and Producers Society, Arrow Rock Lyceum Theater.
Steve was a happy, kind, caring, partner, friend and colleague. His hearty laughter, warm smile, generous spirit and caring nature will continue to live in our hearts.
Surviving are;
His devoted partner of 38 years, Theodore “Ted” W. Fivian Jr., brother, Bruce (late Cindy) Unland, sister, Ellen (late Wally) Wyatt, Gerald “Jer” W. Fivian MD, (late Rodney S. Hartman) partner Francisco J. Restrepo along with Steve and Ted’s beloved, four-legged family felines, Lucy and Ethel.
