Stephen Gerard Whalen
Fortified with the sacraments of the Holy Mother Church on Wednesday July 8, 2020. Greatest brother to Susie (Mark), Kathy, Nancy (Mark), Jane (Andy) and Dan (Susan). Favorite Uncle, Adored Brother-in-Law, Most loyal cousin, Truest Friend, Incredibly special friend to Rose Gordon, Lifelong advocate for Little Flower Parish, Honorary Fire Chief of the Creve Coeur Fire Department, Proudest Irishman, Wonderful Night Manager to the Covenant House, and truly one of the kindest and most grateful human beings God ever created.
Steve’s greatest desire was to donate his body to Saint Louis University so research could help someone else from struggling with Brain Cancer. On July 8, the day Steve passed away, Saint Louis University began accepting bodies again due to Covid. Steve went straight to heaven and continued to help others by letting his body be used for research. God love him!
Written by Steve: Thank you to all of you who have touched my life in one way or another. I truly feel I was the luckiest man in the world. I got to love more people than most people ever get to know. My final wishes to all are as follows: 1) Make things better because you were there! 2) Keep the Faith! 3) And one last final Happy Birthday to All!
There will be a memorial service at Little Flower Church on Saturday July 25th at 10:00 a.m. Please wear your masks and help us celebrate this wonderful life.

July 19, 2020 at 1:44 pmSteve,
Your presence is deeply missed. We miss the daily porch talks with so many of your friends, the wisdom you brought to our kitchen table, the 2:00 a.m bedside conversations, the grace, dignity, humor, acceptance and unconditional love you brought to this world as you lived, and more importantly, as you died. Heaven just received the biggest heart and the world lost one of the kindest human beings God to walk this earth. And as you said to almost everyone. . . Thanks for everything!
