Steve Achilles Maragides
Died December 13, 2022 at age 85. Preceded in death by his parents Nicandros and Efrosini Maragides and brother Harry Maragides. He is survived by his nephews, Karl Maris and Mark Maragides. Steve graduated from Madison (IL) High School in 1955 and Northwestern University in 1959, where he was an NROTC candidate. He served aboard the Aircraft Carrier Shangri-La from 1959 to 1962 as an Ensign, USN and was deployed to the Pacific, England and the Mediterranean Sea. He entered Law School at the University of Illinois, graduating in 1965. Steve practiced law in Madison, IL and then became an attorney for the State of Illinois. He represented Illinois State employees with Workers Compensation issues. He belonged to the Bertrand Russell Society and was an ardent supporter of the Northwestern Wildcats football team.
Services: Graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at St. Matthew Cemetery, 4360 Bates Street, St. Louis, MO 63116 at 2:00 p.m.
