Virginia McConnell Klamon (Tucker)
12-2-1926 to 4-7-2024
Virginia McConnell Klamon (Tucker) born December 2, 1926 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Walter Burke McConnell and Virginia Rogoski McConnell died on April 7, 2024. Virginia is survived by her four children: Ellen Klamon, Vicky Sonnenberg (Greg), C. Andrew Klamon (Alexia Kelley), Virginia Klamon (Stephen Faciszewski), four grandchildren: Lis (Jake) Schemerhorn, Dan (Emily) Greenberg, Charlie Sonnenberg, Mary Sonnenberg, and four great-grandchildren: Beau and Ryatt Schermerhorn and Elija and Mila Greenberg. Virginia was a loving aunt to John, Bob, and Pete Mazzocchio.
After moving from Little Rock as a child, Virginia grew up in St Roch’s parish in Saint Louis. She was a graduate of Visitation Academy and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree and complete post graduate work in nursing from Washington University in Saint Louis. Virginia worked as a Red Cross nurse before marrying Charles Klamon in October 1958. She lived her entire married life in Warson Woods, Missouri and attended Ste. Genevieve du Bois Parish. After the passing of her first husband in 1990 after 31 years of marriage, she remarried in 1998 to Dr. Eugene Tucker, with whom she enjoyed 10 years of marriage.
Virginia was a master bridge player, modeled, and enjoyed traveling, gardening, and playing tennis. At the end of her life, she was in the lovely care of the Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus at Saint Agnes Home in Kirkwood, Missouri and was attended to in her final days by her son Andrew and daughters Vicky and Virginia. The family would like to thank St. Agnes and Gentiva Hospice for their care and service.
With a quick wit, sharp mind and keen sense of style, Virginia left a lasting impression on all she met. After living for almost a century, may she rest in God’s loving arms.
Services: Visitation will take place at 9 a.m. with a funeral Mass to follow at 10 a.m. at Ste. Genevieve du Bois Catholic Church, 1575 North Woodlawn Avenue, Warson Woods, MO 63122 on Friday, April 19. A family only internment at Calvary Cemetery will follow Mass.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Agnes Home Employee Fund (10341 Manchester Road, Kirkwood, MO 63122) or the Red Cross (https://www.redcross.org/donate/donation.html/).
