Brian Blumeyer May 10, 1973 - August 7, 2026

Brian Anderson Blumeyer, born May 10, 1973, in St. Louis, Missouri, and fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, went to be with the Lord on August 7, 2026.  Brian was the beloved son of Arthur A. III and Hope Pangman Blumeyer, and brother to Arthur IV (Mame), Carter C. (Kristy), Peggy Blumeyer Wheeler, and Hope Blumeyer Delgado (Chris), uncle to Nick, Henry, and Zach Wheeler and Arthur V ‘Buddy’, Annie, and Rosie Blumeyer, soul mate to Rebecca ‘Becky’ Blumeyer, and true friend to many.

Brian grew up in St. Louis County, Missouri, attending St. Monica Grade School, Christian Brothers College (CBC) and Maur Hill – Mount Academy.

Early in his life Brian became enamored with lighting, sound equipment and of all types of production of stage events.  His chance to excel in his chosen fields came when he associated with Jake Berry Enterprises.  Jake is the go-to guy for managing shows for the likes of the Rolling Stones, Wiggles, Barney, John Mayer to name a few.  Brian spent his career traveling the world as a stage lighting, equipment technician and stage manager, circling the globe more times than most could count.  He would get a call from Jake that he was needed in Hong Kong in 24 hours.  He made it.

Wherever the work took him, he brought his signature wit and humor, always ready with a joke and a smile even in the middle of a long tour or a tough day.  As his nephew and friend Steven put it: “He’s goin’ to fix the LED on heaven’s gates… and if I know my Uncle, that s— will be worked out by the time we all show up.”

Brian’s generosity and caring saw no bounds.  Time and time again, a friend that found themselves needed a place to stay would be invited by Brian to stay at his home.  Recently, Hopie, Chris and their 85 pound Alaskan Malamute, Jett, found themselves between homes.  Hopie and Chris and Brian had become much closer through the years, so true to his kindness, Brian invited them to be “Roomies”.

Then there is Brian’s Soul Mate.  Brian and his Soul Mate Becky Redington Blumeyer met over 30 years ago and bonded immediately.  They took life their own way and prospered.

On the way, they took on the awesome task of personally, without much outside help, and no experience, purchased a rundown duplex.  They converted the duplex into a single-family home and rebuilt it to be a fine home.  All in their “spare” time between Brian’s travels that could last months.  Becky would design what they wanted, order all the supplies, and be right next to Brian with a hammer and ladder working together or alone when he was gone.

Brian and Becky both loved Shar Pei dogs and in their life owned three.  Bear, Cleo and Ella, each one a part of their family, spoiled rotten and loved just as much.

Brian was complex.  Becky explained the complex Brian with the following:

Brian loved people fully, permanently — once you were his friend, you were his friend for life.  But underneath it, he carried more than most of us ever saw, and he struggled to love himself unconditionally, the way he loved everyone else.  That struggle is what drove everything else.  He wasn’t avoiding people because he stopped caring.  He was avoiding them because he cared so much, and he never quite learned how to let that be seen without something inside him getting in the way.

So, if it’s been a month since you last spoke to him, or it’s been twenty years — please don’t think for one second that he forgot about you, or that he stopped loving you.  He didn’t.  He couldn’t always show it the way he wanted to, but it was there.  It was always there.

Services:  Visitation and Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 17 at St. Monica Catholic Church, 12136 Olive Blvd.  Visitation at 10 a.m. with the Mass to follow at 11 a.m.  A private entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Stray Rescue of St. Louis, 2320 Pine Street, St Louis MO 63103.  A special site has been established for Brian:  https://strayrescue.charityproud.org/Donate/?cid=3658
