George Clough July 25, 1932 - February 11, 2024

Lt. Col. George Clough
Age 91 of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 11, 2024. George was born July 25,1932 in Brooklyn, NY. His wife Shirley (née McGarvey) preceded him in death in December of 2022. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Reilly of New York; his children: Kevin (Cathy) Clough, Shelagh Clough; his grandson Sean Clough: his beautiful great granddaughter Kailey Clough and many nieces and nephews.
George proudly served in the United States Air Force. After his active duty, George received a bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn College and went on to receive a law degree from St. John’s University in New York. After graduation he worked as a corporate attorney and continued to serve in the United States Air Force reserves for 20 years.
In addition to his great love for his country, he was extremely proud of his Irish Heritage. He made a huge imprint in keeping the spirit of Ireland alive in St. Louis. George was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians for over 50 years. He was the Past National President of the AOH, National Legal Counsel and Past President and founder of St. Louis Division II. A statement from members of Division 2:” The loss of George reverberates deeply within the fabric of our division’s heritage. His visionary leadership shaped our division’s trajectory, notably through the inception of the Dogtown Parade four decades ago. The void left by his guidance will be keenly felt by all of us”.
George will be remembered most for his kind and gentle spirit.
Services:  A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 676 W. Lockwood Avenue, Webster Groves, MO 63119 at 11:00 a.m.  The burial will take place on a later date at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.  Memorial Contributions may be made to:  Hibernian Charities:  https://secure.qgiv.com/for/hiberniancharityappeal/

    George was a classmate at Brooklyn College and later were avid NyYork Giant fans and shared many exciting moments at Yankee Stadium and we analyzed many a game on the drive to Bay Ridge where we both lived. George had a great sense of humor and was always fun to be with.
