Mary Krchma January 2, 1947 - October 5, 2025

Mary Margaret Krchma

(nee MacDonald), 78, passed away on Sunday, October 5th, 2025, in St. Louis, Missouri.

Born on January 2, 1947, Mary grew up in Kansas City, Missouri.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northern Illinois University.  Her professional life reflected her deep love of nature and community.  She worked at the Missouri Botanical Garden, where she culminated her career as Director of Membership.  Later, she brought her talents to the Webster University Development Office, contributing to Alumni Affairs.

Mary was a devoted member of Holy Infant Parish and found joy in nurturing both her garden and her family.  An avid gardener and dedicated quilter, she poured care into everything she touched.  Known for her spirited personality and infectious laughter, Mary was the heart of every family gathering.  She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and took pride in being the family matriarch.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband Stephen; daughters Theresa Brennan, Karen Krchma (Bill Friese), and Christine Ehrhart (Joe); granddaughters Phoebe, Hollis, June, and Alice; sister Patricia Donnelly (George) and brother Bud MacDonald (Delores), both of Kansas City.  She was preceded in death by her parents Anne and Frank MacDonald and brother Brian MacDonald.

Mary’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched through her warmth, strength, and unwavering devotion to those around her. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.

Services:  Visitation and funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October  18th at Holy Infant Catholic Church, 627 Dennison Dr., Ballwin, MO 63021.  Visitation at 10 a.m. with the Mass to follow at 11 a.m.  Donations on her behalf may be made to the Missouri Botanical Garden.

    Stephen and family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I worked with Mary as an alum volunteer at Webster University. She was such a kind and dedicated leader in Alumni Rellations and a joy to work with, I will always remember her.
